Baby boy birthday

With all the wedding talk, I forgot to mention that my baby boy is turning one in the next couple of months! I cannot believe that I am planning his first birthday when just a few months ago, I was holding him in my arms at the hospital. I can honestly say, these past few months flew by and now understand what other parents mean when they say, "Capture these moments, because they will go by faaast." Boy, they weren't kidding! =)

The past couple of weeks, I have been diligently trying to find a perfect theme. I had many ideas, but if you know me, you know exactly how indecisive I can be. At first, I wanted to go with a circus theme but realized that it was way too common and decided to go with a cookie monster theme. For a couple of weeks, I was set on this theme, but I came to a conclusion that Max doesn't even like watching Sesame Street!? If you know my bubba (he loves Micky Mouse, Little Einstein and Barney) lol, so the idea of Cookie Monster flew out the window. I was now back on square one. Finally, I had an idea. I would go with a simple theme that every boy would love to be. *Hint*Hint* That's all the hints I would say for now.

Now that I had the perfect boy theme, I needed to decide my color scheme. I had two ideas in mind. I wanted to go with the common blues and grays or go with the more neutral yellows and add a masculine black or gray to that mix. For now, that's all I came up with. Hope you stay tuned for the next couple of posts...

Ice cream, you scream!

Hands down, the cutest thing I made! Thanks to Bakerella, I decided to try her ice cream cake pops and with little practice, I must admit, they turned out quite adorable. It turns out that they are much easier to make than regular cake lollipops. All you need is little patience! LOL I made these for my dearest friend's daughter. I had no time to take pictures so I stole these from her guests. Enjoy!

Paper goodies...

Usually when having a special occasion, when invitations are needed, I always order invites from my favorite paper vendor. This time around, I decided to save some major doe (major meaning $120) by making them myself. On average, invitations from my favorite vendor would cost about $160 not even including shipping. For 50 invitations that's definitely pricey in my book. They're the best, so I didn't mind back then. Well it's not that I mind now, it's just that I obviously had to keep in mind that my venue is already going to cost me an arm and a leg. Saving by making your own paper crafts makes a huge difference on your budget.

I wanted to go with a classic theme, not the typical cross baptism that you always see. I chose a simple monogram style using light green and teal Tiffany blue. I went to Michael's with my sissy and we found very cute invitation templates. All I needed to do was choose my fonts, colors, and print away. I also adorned them with pretty ribbons and sealed them with the same font and color on each envelope. I was very happy with the outcome. Hope you like them...

Crafty Mommy...

I am currently surrounded by card stocks, ribbons, scissors, the mighty Macbook Pro, and my favorite tool of them all, our HP All-in-one Printer. I have attempted to make my own invitations for my son's baptism this year. As crafty as I like to be, with a baby to take care of, I would have rather order these paper goodies from my favorite paper vendor. Although, I would have love to have the convenience to just pick a design and place an order, I decided to create my own invites to possibly save a few dollars.

This will be my second time making my own invites. My wedding invitations we're my first! I bought my own paper, envelopes, printed them out, cut each and everyone of them, and put everything together myself (with the help of the hubby of course). I think they came out lovely, simple but yet classic (in my opinion). Here they are..I'm quite proud of them. In the next post, I will post the results of Max's baptism invitations.
