Terrible nights...

The past two nights has been awful for the hubs and I. My 17 month old has not been feeling himself needless to say he's been feeling horrible. He's been waking up from a cough and congestion and been uncontrollably crying. The night before, he even vomited all over himself, it was not a pretty sight. My eye bags are probably in full effect as I type!

Last night was even worse, he woke up and cried and coughed his lungs out. We tried everything to calm him down but it seemed like he would get aggravated even more. At one point, he was even pretending to cough to get our attention and of course crying at the same time. To calm him down my Hubby turned on the TV and put on his favorite shows (we tried everything and even giving him a bottle so this was the last resort, don't judge us lol). Well big mistake, while it definitely stopped him from crying but he never went back to sleep. Two hours later, I woke up hearing the TV noises I asked my Hubby to shut the TV off and put this little munchkin to sleep!

Hopefully tonight will be a little better for us. Crossing my fingers!

11 months to be exact

Now that I am now an IPhone user (always been with Blackberry) I just never realized what all the hype was about until I was introduced to the "App store." I then began to finally come to conclusion how innovative this phone actually is. I am currently writing this blog on my phone, how cool right? More posts soon to follow! Thank you iPhone!

Back to the title, this post is all about my little bubba turning 11 months, which means 1 more months till he turns 1. I must admit, I'm feeling a little sad, everyday I can see the changes in him. He's getting so heavy that I can only hold him for so long (I'm petite). He has 2 sets of teeth on top and 2 sets at the bottom. He can stand up on his own and crawls and puts everything in his mouth (his favorite are rubber flip flops - eww I know). He absolutely loves watching Little Einstein and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

I cannot wait to see what else is in store for us. Here is a little clip of my lil baby soon to be toddler...

Sleepy Dragon

This year for Halloween was surprisingly a fun one! I guess a huge factor was Max (kiddies always makes a holiday much more wonderful). It made everything so festive and picking out a costume and eating Halloween candy was my favorite part. I had no idea what to dress Max this year, I was torn between a puppy or spider from Pottery Barn. I finally decided with the puppy but with my luck, all the sizes we're all sold out. A procrastinator such as myself did not surprised me one bit. I researched for more costumes and stumbled upon Old Navy. Not only their costumes looked cute but they we're budget friendly (SCORE!!!!). I also loved how warm they we're which really helped in this cold October night. Here are some photos of my little bubs (aka Max the sleepy dragon). I call him the sleepy dragon because half way through trick or treating, he fell asleep. LOL

Patches of pumpkins

I can happily admit that I wasn't very much of a Halloween person nor very festive. I think as an adult, I only dressed up once and that was a couple of years back as a french maid. It was certainly amusing but just wasn't my fortay. Now being a mother, I can completely understand how this holiday can be so much fun for the kiddies. Candy, costumes, and pumpkins... what else can a kid ask for!

Last weekend, my sister and I took the babies to the pumpkin patch and it was definitely a memorable moment. Both kiddies we're amazed by the orange objects and at first very shy. Soon, they seen all the children play and began to play around as well. They both had a blast and came home with tiny pumpkins that they picked all by themselves. As you can see by the photos, they had a grand time!

Baby boy birthday

With all the wedding talk, I forgot to mention that my baby boy is turning one in the next couple of months! I cannot believe that I am planning his first birthday when just a few months ago, I was holding him in my arms at the hospital. I can honestly say, these past few months flew by and now understand what other parents mean when they say, "Capture these moments, because they will go by faaast." Boy, they weren't kidding! =)

The past couple of weeks, I have been diligently trying to find a perfect theme. I had many ideas, but if you know me, you know exactly how indecisive I can be. At first, I wanted to go with a circus theme but realized that it was way too common and decided to go with a cookie monster theme. For a couple of weeks, I was set on this theme, but I came to a conclusion that Max doesn't even like watching Sesame Street!? If you know my bubba (he loves Micky Mouse, Little Einstein and Barney) lol, so the idea of Cookie Monster flew out the window. I was now back on square one. Finally, I had an idea. I would go with a simple theme that every boy would love to be. *Hint*Hint* That's all the hints I would say for now.

Now that I had the perfect boy theme, I needed to decide my color scheme. I had two ideas in mind. I wanted to go with the common blues and grays or go with the more neutral yellows and add a masculine black or gray to that mix. For now, that's all I came up with. Hope you stay tuned for the next couple of posts...

Lovely weekend recap

This past few weeks, I've been crazy paranoid. Ask the hubby and the little sissy, and they will tell you exactly how I felt. I have no idea what's going on with my body but I have not been "regular" if you know what I mean. Ever since June, mother nature has not arrived and it is making me very nervous. It's not that I don't want to be pregnant, I just feel that I'm not ready to have another baby quite so soon. My little Maxi is quite a handful (ask anyone, they will tell you! lol) but everyday I am so blessed to have him. Anyways, it's almost August and no mother nature yet. I've been meaning to POAS (pee on a stick) but I'm terrified to see two lines. While my husband is ecstatic about more kids (he thinks the more the merrier), I am here freaking out. Not only my poor body has not bounce back from my Cesarian but I haven't even lost my baby weight yet. I can't even think about another baby yet?!?

I became more paranoid because I was having symptoms when I was pregnant with Max. I was burping like a truck driver and kind of nausous. But then again, I may have been psychicing myself out. So over the weekend, I finally man(ed) up and had my hubby buy a pregnancy test. Yesterday morning (which all ladies know is the best time to POAS) I finally did it. Here is the results:
*Please excuse my poor quality Blackberry camera photo*

THANK GOODNESS!!! I was a bad girl and woke up my husband and played a silly joke on him. I told him, it was positive. He immediately got up and nervously yelled, "Are you serious?!!!!!" I said, "Gotcha!!!" I'm awful, I know =)

So that sums up my weekend, well except I forgot to mention that my hubby had the most terrible stomach virus. He looks like he lost 5 lbs! Ha! As a stay at home mom, never realized how awful Sunday nights we're. Just thinking about going to work on Monday makes me just gag! Till next blogging spree!

5 Months

It's been quite a while since the last time I posted. This is all due to the typical life of a busy wife/mommy. Recently I changed my blog name due to conflict of our new business name. Yes, I said "new business." My sister and I finally pursued our true passion. Our business consist of sweet desserts, designing dessert tables, invitations, favors, and all things parties. Stay tuned for our upcoming website. It's currently in the works.

In the meantime, my little baby turned 5 months old yesterday and can't believe how time literally flies. He is now flipping all over the bed, knows if mommy or daddy is not in the room and loves to laugh. I love waking up in the morning looking forward to that smile on Maxi's face. Yes, it's true, every morning when he sees his mommy or daddy, he has a huge smile on his face. Last night, I made pigs in a blanket and baked delicious chocolate cupcakes. Yumm! I provided recipes at the bottom of the post in case you love what you see.

Pigs in a blanket Recipe

Ingredients
  • 8 frankfurters
  • 8 slices American processed cheese
  • 1 (10 ounce) package refrigerated biscuit dough
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Wrap cheese around each frankfurter then the biscuit around that. Put on cookie sheet with the overlap of biscuit faced down, so you don't have to use tooth picks.
  3. Bake in preheated oven until biscuits are brown, about 10 to 15 minutes.

Chocolate cake with ganache buttercream

Ingredients
  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a muffin pan with paper or foil liners. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk; beat well. Fill the muffin cups 3/4 full.
  3. Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Frost with your favorite frosting when cool.
Frosting Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup hot fudge topping
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions

  2. Sift the cocoa with the confectioners' sugar and add to the creamed mixture. Mix together adding 1 tablespoon at a time of milk to keep mixture smooth. Don't add more than 1/4 cup of milk.
  3. Add the hot fudge topping and the vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Mother's Day adventure

I can't believe I'm a mommy and I can now officially celebrate Mother's Day. Being a mother is beyond indescribable and has been the most life changing experience. From giving birth to my little Max to taking him home for the very first time. Each moment is never a dull moment with my little man. With that said, my hubby graciously spoiled me rotten on Sunday (not that he doesn't already do so on any ordinary day) but that day was especially special for the both of us. We had brunch at a Thai restaurant and went to the mall (LOL yes, I love the mall).
He said, I can buy whatever I want and what do I do? Of course, go straight to JCrew and sadly was not able to find anything I absolutely had to have. Don't you hate it when you get to go on a shopping spree and can't find a single thing to buy? So we decided to just go to Gap and see if we can find anything for Max. While randomly looking at the women sale rack, something caught my eye. I totally scored on a utility jacket which should be on sale for $64.99 but the one I grabbed which by the way was my size was marked off as $24.99! Yes! So meant to be... So I walked away with something fabulous after all.
After wards, grabbed something sweet from Mrs. Fields and some frozen yogurt which topped the end of my very first Mother's Day. Just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to my mommy, my sissy, my cousin's Shay, Giselle, Kristin, Aileen and to all the fabulous Mommy's out there! xoxo

2 months!

My lil' man is officially 2 months and boy has he changed! I can finally figure out his cries whether they are hunger pain or he's just exhausted in needing of a nap. My husband and I are finally getting the hang of this parenting stuff. For the past three nights, he's been sleeping through the night and waking up around 6 A.M. for feedings. I'm crossing my fingers that this will stay! He is smiling a lot more and cooing as well. There are no words to describe how much I'm in love with my baby boy! =)
2 month appointment status includes:

Weight: 12 lbs 14 oz.
Height: 23.5 inches
Head circumference: 16 inches
He received four immunizations including 3 shots which he didn't like too much. Poor lil guy.

Baby fashion fever

My son is now 2 months old and he's big enough for me to start dressing him up with the cutest little outfits. I am absolutely addicted to shopping for little Maximus. I can't help but to dress him with the most adorable little pieces. This spring I noticed that baby rompers are quite popular this season as well as different bold patterns. I'm also in love how my sister dresses my little niece with bright colors and not the typical matchy matchy pieces. Recently, I went on a shopping rampage at Baby Gap, Bloomingdale's and surprisingly Old Navy. Here are a few that I'm currently eying for the next shopping trip and some I have already purchased.

These are some of Natalie's essential pieces for this spring. She practically lives in crawler skirts and would look adorable in the baby rompers for girls. I can't wait till summer and get to see my Maximus and Lily pie in their bare arms and legs!

A blissful month...

I know... I've been terribly missing in action for the past month. It amazes me how time simply flies especially when you're busy taking care of a little one. I know I have once again neglected my blog, but with a newborn to take care, it's simply impossible to make time for myself, let alone update a blog. Now that my baby is getting a little older, a little more experience in the baby department, I can now have some "me time."

My baby is now 7 weeks old and although 7 weeks may not be much but 7 weeks with a baby has been a hand full. Lack of sleep, a handful of arguments with the hubby, at times a fussy baby made me realized how I appreciate "me time." I can honestly say I'm exhausted! It sounds quite cliche but the term "It's worth it" is underated... I don't even remember how my life was before having Max.

Here are a few pictures of my baby boy!

9 months preggers... yes indeed!

How far along? 38 weeks 6 days
Total weight gain: 50 pounds =(
Body Changes? Belly is just huuuge. It's beyond uncomfortable. Gaining a lot of weight in my face and thighs. Not sexy people!
Sleep: Peeing a lot which is difficult since getting out of bed is not so easy. Always tired. Most nights, I can't even turn my body without being in pain.
Best moment this week: Hearing my baby's heartbeat at our weekly doctor's appointment. It's currently in the 140's. Lost 1lb from last week.
Gender: Boy
Food Cravings: Honey bunches of oats with fat free milk.
What I miss: Not feeling so uncomfortable...I hate this. Being skinny. McDonald's Hazelnut Ice Coffee and a Togo's turkey and cranberry sandwich.
Symptoms: Sore crotch, peeing every hour, back pain
Movement: He is so big I can feel his butt stick out and the painful kicks in the ribs. Ouch!
What I am looking forward to: Meeting our son for the first time and being able to work on my fitness to get back to being healthy and skinny. LOL
Milestones: I'm in the single digits...only 8 more days to go...wow! My doctor would consider inducing me 41 weeks which makes that February 12 (Stos' bday)....I just hope he comes before then, only because of what other's have said about the painful feeling of being induced.
